Debate Question: Do you think middle schoolers are too young to be dating?

YES:

“I believe that Middle Schoolers should just be friends. Relationships in middle school don’t last long and there is no sense in dating at this age.”

“We don’t ever really go out anywhere so there is no point. We are way too young to be together in a serious relationship and many of us are not mature enough and will do stupid stuff and make stupid decisions to impress other or please other people.”

“We are definitely not old enough to handle the pressure of a relationship. We would easily give into stupid decisions. We should wait until we are older to take on serious relationships.”

NO:

“I believe we are old enough. We should have the freedom to go out. As long as we are responsible enough, we should have the right to date.”

“If the two people are responsible enough to do the right thing with each other, it is OK. When the two people are mature enough emotionally to handle it, it would work out.

People can’t help it if they like each other.”

“Relationships are important for young minds. It teaches us to be confident and

responsible for more serious relationships. It helps us become more outgoing and if you

like someone enough, you should express that by going out and having fun.”

YES AND NO:

I don’t say yes or no. The person and their maturity level should determine whether they can date or not. Some middle schoolers can handle a relationship while some cannot. If you are not ready to date, you shouldn’t be pressured, and if you are, fine.”
